"Humility is a virtue that is not well understood. It does not consist of constantly lowering yourself, but to turn your gaze upwards, towards the beings who have surpassed us. By looking at these being, we instinctively compare ourselves with them, and of course, we see ourselves as being very little. Yes, but we must not content ourselves in staying at the level which we are and simply look at these magnificent beings without doing anything ; we must go forward. Because true humility brings human beings towards perfection. It is in wanting to imitate those who have surpassed him on the scale of evolution that he can advance. It is in wanting to become as perfect as God that he becomes truly humble. Some have said, to the contrary, that this is pride. Well, they are wrong. How could Jesus, who has praised so much the virtue of humility, have pushed humanity towards pride by saying: "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" ? Meditate on this and you will also understand how, by taking as an Ideal to attain the perfection of God, you will have no choice but to progress in true humility."
