The Basis of Morality

In his lack of knowledge and, primarily, of inner vigilance, man often transgresses the great laws of the universe. These laws are, however, engraved within each and everyone of us. They form an integral part of our physical, psychical and spiritual structure.

When man lives harmoniously, correctly, he feels well. That is mathematical. He is in harmony with the great forces of the universe, and we can say that, as a microcosm, he establishes a good and beautiful relation with the macrocosm. In the same way, when a musician follows the conductor of an orchestra and fullfills his role with great ability, everyone benefits from it. The harmony that is then created, the heart-warming feeling spectators experience, the joy and dignity that are felt from knowing that we have given all our best; these are the results of our positive attitude.

Let us now suppose that someone has comitted an act of thievery ( and this theft can very well be one of inspiration or hapiness in others, a psychic robbery ), immediatly, he loses his inner peace. He becomes anxious, and is always questionning himself on the probability of others having seen him, his heart races when he sees police and so on and so forth. That is also mathematical. If this man is wise, he will immediatly correct his fault, 3 times over if necessary. Eventually, in a manner that is seemingly unrelated, his conscience will clear and he will feel a great relief. Having absolved his sin, he begins to slowly but surely recreate the necessary conditions to receive his peace and hapiness back. That is very mathematical once again !

Altough we may think that these inner mood changes are simply caused by the person itself, by her feeling of guilt, esoteric science, which is the science of life, tells us otherwise. Everything is linked; one cannot therefore take forcibly without losing something within himself in return. When we see life as a "Great All", a giant network where nothing and no one is isolated from everyone else, it then becomes evident that such correlations exist. Imagine that the universe is exactly like a massive, cosmic human body. If the stomach were to rob the head, if the kidneys were to rebel against the liver, how could the latter not also feel the effect of their negative attitude ? They are all in the same body !

The global organism, nature itself, likes to see all its members functionning together in harmony. This is why, within us, within the very fabric of our structure, is written this law : do not do onto others that which you would not have them do onto you. Since all others are also in fact part of your own greater self!

That is why we feel well when we help others, even though it may simply be through a smile or by bringing them a little bit of laughter or counsel, in one word ; a little bit of life ! :)

When we identify only with our physical body and matter, we isolate ourselves somewhere in space. Since we have a body, and that others also have a body, we assume that we are separated and distinct from one another. Our conscience, focused in this way, shrinks. Even though it is true that our physical bodies are separated on the physical plane ( and even there, from the point of view of the whole of organic life, nothing is separated ! ), it is not necessarily so on all planes of conscience. Our spiritual bodies are all in contact with one another. We all posess a great intrisical link with Life and are separated only by appearance, or the illusion of it. Many sages have described states where they entered in "fusion" with this great life. Even though they kept the impression of individuality, they felt plunged into something much more vast, they felt immerged in the unique Being. The luminous particle of their soul united with the Sun from which they came, if only for a few instants. As long as we will uniquely see "us" and "others", while forgetting the great "we are", complications are inevitable. The multitude is, by its very structure, complex, and the Unique, simple.

Why then should we do good ? Not for a thousand and one intellectual or moral motivations but rather because it is the basis of our being. We are beings of goodness, linked together by goodness. Such is the true basis of morality. Men are fundamentaly, profoundly, structuraly the embodiment of goodness. They are meant to manifest that goodness in order to feel at peace and at One with the great Life. As long as we do not live that goodness, as long as we do not live in our complete, true and superior nature, we will often be met with suffering. Just as 1+1 equals 2, just as the blue of the Heavens exist, just as what man sows inwardly and outwardly, he necessarily reaps sooner or later.

To verify this, all that is necessary is inner vigilance. When we truly observe ourselves, we can feel physically, in our organs, what effects toughts and feelings introduce within our system. If these toughts are discordant, they provoke suffering and even small, subtle physical hurts.

And on the contrary, who hasn't noticed that when he is in a state of joy, his face shines with light, his body is in full health and if an outer difficulty arises, he is equipped a thousands times better to face it ? When we are in harmony with the law of Love, we feel surrounded by light and everyone loves us as we are alive ..... and vivifyied !

We must not then, live uncounsciously. The movements of our inner kingdom, our state of physical and spiritual well-being are not the results of accidents or chance, and it is truly with them that we have to live daily. Why not then edify within ourselves a beautiful interior living space ! We have all the right to do so, and I would even say that it is our duty! Such is our celestial heritage, and all the angels and evolved creatures will help those who walk on the path of perfecting themselves, of harmonisation to universal life.

Let us then be vigilant towards our inner world and the laws which govern it. Zoroaster used to say: " When in doubt, abstain ". Let us listen to our little voice of reason, let us learn to observe ourselves and remedy our mistakes to finally enter within cosmic life. We have almost forgotten this it seems, but it is not normal to be the prey of so many misfortunes as a society. If it is so, it necessarily means that we have not understood something, and this something could very well be the true, profound nature of the links which unite us to all life. Let us not be like those mice who, without end, electroctute themselves at the touch of an electric wire. When we feel an unnecessary suffering ( because there are also very useful sufferings and trials which help the sincere disciple to advance on the path of evolution. But these suffering do not usually come from us, they are not created by our ignorance, or more or less involuntary mistakes ), it is that we have contributed to them. These sufferings are very often just like the electric shocks that nature sends us saying: "No, do not go in that direction, you are breaking one of the laws which I have insribed within myself, and thus, within yourself."

We have to learn from the lessons which Nature and Life bestow upon us :

“ Take good care of your brothers and sisters because they are very precious to us. Their soul is a part of our soul, their body, a member of our great extent, their Spirit, the greatest riches there is. Have a high Ideal and head toward it with all of your strength. Become once again who you truly are, Sons and Daughters of cosmic Intelligence, and you will finally taste plenitude. Nothing else can ever fulfill you like this. Your inner space is infinite, you thirst for being, unending. Only the presence of the very Source of Eternity, your very own Divine Being and the conquest of its summit can forever quench your thirst.“

May peace be with us, and within us.
